Good Culture Introduction
The beginning of Roswell Campus vs the Beginning of the season for the Philadelphia Eagles
- They had never won a Super Bowl, yet they believed in what they had never seen
- All the Israelites had ever known was slavery, so when the 12 spies went out there was a similar opportunity for them to believe what they had never seen to be possible. Only 2 out of 12 had the eyes of faith to see it & only 2 ever did walk in it
Pillars vs Pillows
Weight carrier vs comfort orientated
Example: My son, Judah (reflux in my office in Winter)
In Summer it came back because it was deeper in the carpet.
God wants to wash the deep stuff so that it never comes back in the heat / pressure of different seasons.
The Aroma of your life matters
Example: Garlic & Campfires, People can tell what you've been around
The woman with the alabaster jar (Matthew 26:7)
What she brought that day permeated the room; the environment; that atmosphere and got on everyone else in the room.
Paul & Silas (Acts 16:16-40)
The atmosphere of breakthrough they created affected everyone in the room there with them.
Some of the positive aromas in Atlanta
People are for you, they might not be with you but they genuinely celebrate your wins & Cornbread of course.
Some of the negative aromas in Atlanta
Broken Relationships & Church Baggage
The Church exists to be a place of washing of peoples souls
Jesus made this clear as He washed the soles of the feet of the disciples (John 13)
Ephesians 5:26 - The Church spotless without blemish by the washing water of the Word
Everyone picks up dirt as they walk the road of life just as the disciples did in YOU CAN STILL PICK UP DIRT FOLLOWING JESUS
Jesus cleansed them because of the dirt that had stuck to their sole
Example: Carrying excess baggage from place to place trying to function normally
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
In the Old Testament in regards to the Temple, priests were given instruction to tend to the lamps
1. Don’t let the oil run out
2. Trim the wick & Sweep out the ashes
What often happens is we just keep adding wood, starting new things but when we don't deal with the old it suffocates the new.
Maybe you’re believing for Influencers/that new job/relationship to be some new life to the fire; it can be but you gotta sweep out the ashes
1 “When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are about to enter and occupy, he will clear away many nations ahead of you: the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. These seven nations are greater and more numerous than you. 2 When the LORD your God hands these nations over to you and you conquer them, you must completely destroy them. Make no treaties with them and show them no mercy. 3 You must not intermarry with them. Do not let your daughters and sons marry their sons and daughters
Example: The saying in Australia "She’ll be Right mate"
Sometimes we put things in a sleeping bag that belong in a body bag
63 Judah could not dislodge the Jebusites, who were living in Jerusalem; to this day the Jebusites live there with the people of Judah.
Jebusites - The Bloodline of Ham - this decision to leave the seemingly harmless Jebusite women would later terrorize Israel through the birth of Goliath
Example: 92 Year old Woman in China gives birth to 60 year old baby - Ectopic
Maybe there are things that you've carried for so long that you've lost your fight and have adopted the idea “that’s just how it is”
Run DMC once said in a song “its like that & thats the way it is” but he was wrong.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT
Moses was living with an impediment (speech)
God said for a time I will allow you to operate with it but there came a moment at the rock, right at the doorstep to the promise...
GOD HASNT CALLED YOU TO A PART OF THE PROMISE
HES CALLED YOU TO THE FULLNESS OF IT
And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.”
A wine skin becomes old and unusable when the inside becomes dry and cracks.
Rubbing oil on the outside won't make the old new. The only way an old wine skin can become new we have to somehow get to the inside.
